THE OPPORTUNITY: Enterprise Software Engineer II LOCATION: Ft. Meade, MD 20755
Job Description: The Enterprise Software Engineer Level 2 shall: Design, develop, maintain, and improve system software and applications for customer systems. Serve as key developer as part of a software development team that performs collaborative software development tasks with other teams. Assist lower-level software engineers with programming assignments. Research and recommend software tools and processes. Work closely with project managers and other engineering teams in evaluating current systems and recommending decisions on future development. Assist systems engineers with the analysis of user and system requirements and constraints. Analyze system specifications and translate system requirements to task junior software engineers. Use configuration management tools such as ClearCase for source code control and software release management Perform unit and integration testing of software components Provide assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine and resolve system problems. Develop software technical documentation including system/software requirements, design, code, algorithms, interfaces, and processes Provide technical support to system integration efforts in the lab and during field installations. Travel 1-2 times per year for one week periods each time for technical exchanges and collaboration with external development and engineering teams. Required Skills: The Enterprise Software Engineer Level 2 shall have demonstrable experience (6+ years required) and proficiency in the following areas: Computer/system software design and development for LINUX and/or Windows platforms (9+ years experience preferred) SIGINT software development (5+ years preferred) Designing, coding, testing and debugging software written in C or C++ Designing, coding, testing and debugging software written in JAVA to include working with annotation and generics (7+ years preferred) Work experience using a JEE container (5+ years preferred) Experience in frameworks such as Spring Experience with ESB/SOA such as Apache Service Mix or equivalent enterprise message technologies (minimum 1 year preferred) Analyzing system specifications and translating to software requirements Experience developing technical documentation for software components, must have good oral and written communications skills and should have demonstrated experience documenting software designs and source code Experience in technical program management and/or software development team lead. At least 50% of this experience shall be in programs with particular relevance to SIGINT, communications systems, and/or information technology. (3+ years preferred) Experience in requirement analysis/generation and developing complex systems and software architectures. (5+ years preferred) Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with full scope (Lifestyle) polygraph required. Required Education: BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is required; MS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline strongly desired. Professional experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
